Christmas market: a central row of stalls is dark while the others remain lit.
For the team behind the Christmas market

When the lights go out,
your search begins.

An extra appliance takes seconds to plug in. Finding the cause of a fault can take much longer. With RigPort monitoring points in the right places, you can see the load in each area — helping you investigate more precisely.

Festive lights. Loads in sight.

Mulled wine hot.
Power supply in sight.

Mulled wine urns, electric deep fryers and microwaves are part of everyday life at a Christmas market. Add strings of lights — and sometimes an unplanned fan heater. Individual appliances are not always large loads. The total load and how it is distributed matter.

If a shared supply trips, several stalls may be affected. Which ones depends on the distribution and protection scheme. Clearly assigned monitoring points help narrow down the affected area.
The RigPort principle

One feeder. Multiple Christmas stalls.

Continue the CEE supply from one distribution unit to the next, taking power off where each stall needs it. Daisy chaining describes the through-fed supply route; the connected loads are electrically in parallel.

Schuko outlets at the stall

The RPL32S-MKII provides a CEE32 through-feed and three Schuko outlets. Multiple stalls can be supplied along a suitably planned feeder.

Allocate connections deliberately

With the RPL32T1-MKII, issue each stall only the planned TRUE1-to-Schuko adapters. This makes the allocated connections reflect the agreed equipment.

The number of adapters alone does not limit power. Total load, phase allocation and the permissible feeder load remain part of the planning.

Match the agreed connection allowance: Custom versions with, for example, 6 A or 10 A protection per outlet are available on request. We agree the specific configuration with you for your project.

Want to know the actual load? Add suitable PM/WD monitoring points to selected feeders or appliances.

Three practical starting points

From the mulled wine urn to the distribution node.

01

The individual Christmas stall

Monitor a selected stall or a critical appliance. Check how the load changes when a mulled wine urn heats up or another fan heater is connected.

02

The market section

Measure a shared feeder. Clearly assign the stalls to their monitoring point so that unusual readings identify the area that needs checking.

03

The central distribution

Keep track of the total load and add monitoring points at relevant outgoing circuits. Bring the data together in a configured central overview.

A system beyond individual readings

One monitoring point.
One clearly defined area.

Clearly assign the main distribution, sections and appliances. Power paths show the supply routes; dashed data paths lead to the central overview.

Simplified functional diagram, not an installation plan. Stalls are shown as parallel branches.

The right building blocks

Choose the right version for your monitoring point.

PM: measure locally. WD: access readings over the network.
Select the appropriate PM or networked WD version within the monitoring and distribution families. Connections and functionality depend on the model. RackPortMain1 adds a central hub to the system.

At the appliance

Place a monitoring point upstream of the selected appliance and read local values where you are checking. Example: RigPortL1T1-PM-WD upstream of an electric cooker; plan suitable connection adapters.

Switch at the connection

The WatchDogL1S1T1 provides programmable switching outputs, per-channel power measurement, schedules and webhooks. Suitable loads can be switched according to a properly configured rule.

One point reports. Another responds.

Example concept: A monitoring point in a section supplies data. A configured automation evaluates a defined threshold and controls a suitable switched outlet — for example, for a designated supplementary fan heater.

Device communication, the rule and the switched load must be compatible. This response requires configuration; it is not an automatic link between all WD devices.
